Consulting Services


I am a Unix veteran of over 15 years, with experience in Security (both host and network), Systems Design and Implementation, Perl, Shell, Apache, C/C++, Document Life Cycle Management, CGI programming, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Regular Expressions, and overall Systems Administration and Support. I have a Computer Science degree from University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. I am always interested in learning new languages, tools, and techniques.

Previous Experience

  • Managed Network of 50 Solaris Machines - Academic - All aspects of network, including user provisioning, system patching and security, intrusion detection and response, web services, list server, and other campus services.
  • Security Engineer for 400-node Unix network - Finance - Managed policy, machine provisioning, user training, detection, and enforcement using home-grown, purchased, and locally integrated tools. Consulted on firewall configuration and deployment for the organization.
  • Application Engineer for Documentation Management System - Engineering - Design, implement, maintain, and support a document management system. Includes design, maintenance, and implementation of applications to access and modify the content, user maintenance and training, upgrades, and patches.

I can provide value for you and your organization. I have a flexible pricing scale, both hourly and project / milestone oriented, based on scope of work, timeframe for completion, and any special skills necessary to fulfill your needs. Work will be completed remotely and typically outside of normal working hours, so remote network access is a must. The services I offer are:

Due to other obligations, I am only able to take on small contracts (~5 hours a week).


I have been a member of Association for Computing Machinery since 1992, been involved with the Perl Monks community for many years. I have been serving as a School Board member at my Church from 2005-2011, as Chair from 2006-2010.
